Taco (salad) tuesday! (It's actually wednesday but who's keeping track?)

hello everybody!

One of the great things I've been able to experience recently is a sense of freedom in my own home. Now that my summer break is in full swing I have a lot of free time for about a month until my summer job starts. But even better than that is that everybody else in my family is working! So I have the house to myself most days. Since I'm one of those people that actually likes solitude and I enjoy the company of myself (I love being with people as well) this is really great!

One of the many things I'm enjoying is being the boss of what I cook for myself. For example I ate a taco salad today! It was delicious and It's really easy to make, you just get whatever you usually put on a taco and eat that instead!

My top study tips

Hello! These next couple of weeks I'll be occupied with school stuff and my posts will probably not be the most interesting. But I thought I'd share some tips that I use to study more efficiently.

Studying is all about finding what works for you. Do you learn by listening? Associating words with pictures ? Writing mind-maps? You need to find out by doing, test out loads of different techniques to work out a study plan for you.

Another super important thing is your environment. You should optimise it to the fullest. If you know that when you're studying at home your sibling is constantly annoying you and trying to get a reaction out of you then you need to find another place to study! Go to a coffeeshop, the local library, your grandma's house, anyplace where you know you can study.

It's hard to find a place that's completely quiet and rid of distractions. But there is a great trick that I always take too: Study music! You probably have no idea what that is and it can really be any music. The biggest criteria for study music is that it shouldn't interfere with your studying. In other words it should be instrumental, if there's lyrics you will get distracted. Classical music is perfect, there's nothing better than revising and listening to Mozart's best hits. But if that's not your thing you can use something else! Go to youtube and type 'study music' you'll find loads!

I'm listening to this right now:

Get creative with your studying, it should be fun! You have a history exam? Watch a documentary! Loads of Spanish words to learn? Use websites like quizlet.com, there are loads of things out there that can help you learn.

Was this helpful?

Coast to Coast USA - Day 4

hellooo! It's time for another part of my coast to coast posts! (That totally rhymed, wow).

First a typical picture of an american hotel breakfast, bagels (yummy), scrambled eggs, a donut (because USA duuuh) and some fruit to make the breakfast a little healthier. // Then we rode the bus back into NYC

First off we visited the 9/11 memorial which was really beautiful and touching. // A picture from a cemetery near the 9/11 memorial, don't know the name of it, but if you do please let me know.

Then we went on the ferry tour of The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Since I had already visited the Statue of Liberty it wasn't a big deal for me but Ellis Island had the best museum ever!!! For a history nerd like me it was heaven.

After that we got some dinner at Schnipper's, which is where I ate the best burger I've ever had!! Then a few of us quickly got some frozen yoghurt from across the street.

To top the evening off I got to see a real broadway musical! The seats were so high up I was physically afraid to fall down and there was this big russian dude in front of me so I couldn't see all that well but it was stil such an amazing experience to see Aladdin in the New Amsterdam Theatre.

This was a great day!

A tip from me

A small tip from me is to use frozen berries instead of ice cubes! It looks cute and gives the drink a fruity taste. My personal favourite is raspberries but since we didn't have any I had to use strawberries which worked fine!

Hope you all are well!

Coast to Coast USA - 2014 Day 1

Hi everybody, hope you had an amazing day!
I've decided to make a couple blog posts about my language trip with EF that I took this past summer. Since I wasn't sponsored by EF this is going to be my absolute honest opinion about the trip.

A misspelled vanilla creme from Starbucks and a no-makeup selfie to start the trip off. We got up quite early and went to Helsinki airport. A big minus before the trip even started was that we didn't get a schedule of what we were going to be doing. I actually called there several times and got sent a preliminary schedule but nobody else knew what was planned.

The 7 hour flight was as expected pretty boring. As always when you fly to the US they had a few shows to watch and the customs declaration you have to fill in before you get there. Take a pen with you, you will need it.

Since we (the Finns) got there before everybody else we actually were able to see a little bit more than everybody else. First off we went to the beach (No idea which beach), it was really nice and beautiful. Then we got a little tour of Boston.

Boston is a beautiful city, quite big but not in the same way as NYC. After we rode the bus around for awhile we went to pick everybody else (The Swedes, Norwegians and Russians) up at the airport before we finally ate, also at the airport. For our first meal in the States we ate at Burger King.

Part 2 will be published shortly.

DIY - Personal calender

Hey!
I thought I'd show you what I did to my calendar to make it more personal. You can see the before picture of the calendar right below here:

First I made a couple of collages on pictures that I wanted to use. Some of them are my own and some of them are from weheartit.com

I cut out all the pictures...

..and arranged them to fit onto the calendar.
Then I put glue on one side of the calendar at a time. After that I stuck the pictures onto it. Another alternative would be to apply the glue directly on to the pictures.

And the final result! I really love my calendar after the makeover, I love taking it out of my bag on a boring school day. I get so motivated and happy from all the pictures.

Furious 7

I had never seen any of the fast and furious movies until today. I went with my friend to see it and holy smokes it was amazing. First thing tomorrow I'm gonna have a marathon and see all of them. I've never been especially interested in action movies but wow. If all the other movies are as good as the seventh one was then my mind will have been officially blown.

On another note I filmed a video for my new (actually super old) youtube channel! It felt very awkward and I'm not sure if I'm happy with it but I'm gonna upload it tomorrow anyways! Wow it was so cool editing and everything, I felt so professional. Maybe that's just my imagination.

Basic makeup look

A makeup look I did a couple of days ago // All of the makeup that I used

This is a cute makeup look I did a few days ago. I would use this on a day out shopping or on a spring picnic. It's a bit too basic to use on a night out but if you like your makeup simple, go for it.

If I use a lot of eye makeup (eyeliner, fake eyelashes + eye shadow) I tend to go easy on the blush and bronzer. This is not an everyday look for me, I usually just put on some bb cream and mascara, but it's a lot of fun to spice things up and try some new looks.
